Together with Belmond Hotel Cipriani, you can adventure through Venice’s old calle and discover hidden addresses with wonderful stories and anecdotes that add incomparable value to the unique places we propose.
Star your Venetian day near the enchanting St Mark’s Square with a full-bodied morning coffee at Caffé Girani, where roasted coffee beans first made an appearance in the 1600s, a coffee house still run today by mother-and-daughter team Gigliola and Roberta Girani.
Follow your off-the-beaten-path experience to the Island of San Lazzaro, an enclave of tranquillity with a long history as a refuge and a place of learning. Although steeped in its past, the island has a vibrant present and the Armenian monastery is famed for producing delicious rose-petal jam. A delicacy not to miss! As a special addition, guests can be accompanied for a 2/3 hours walk by a local writer who has just published a successful carnet d’adresses about Venice and its most exclusive corners.

Discover the charm of ancient Genoa through the city’s old shops. Marvel at the thousand faces of the ancient city.
A captivating walk through the tangled ‘caruggi’ (small streets) in search of old names to re-discover arts and crafts of the past, fried food shops and bakeries bursting with local specialties and places to meet, still popular today. Forno (bakery), drogheria (grocery store), friggitoria (fried food shop) are words that evoke the flavors and aromas of the past. These were places where people would meet and talk while shopping, or just enjoy a meal and a glass of wine – and today these things have not changed.
With Belmond Hotel Splendido,  guest can lose in this splendid labyrinth, discovering these unique treasures.

And then Florence, with its streets filled with names of Haute couture icons, making the city a feast for the eyes of fashion addicts. But there is more to the city: some hidden small shops, ateliers of young and talented designers and concept stores working completely out of the box.
Belmond Villa San Michele will share a special “not to miss Shopping guide” with its guests revealing unique addresses of this highly fascinating world.
We will introduce you to Saskia, an exceptional woman who decided to make Florence her home almost two decades ago to follow her dream to be one of the best female cobblers in the world. We will lead you to taste the best Tuscan products at Pegna, a epicurean food store just a few steps from the Duomo, where Giuseppe, the ‘Mastro Prosciuttaio’ (Ham Master) from behind his counter of highly selected meats and cheeses, will prepare some special delicacies to taste or to take away. Experience a journey back in time with a visit to Chianti Cashemere enjoying a wonderful day out for all the family at the farm; meeting and petting the animals, and learning how the precious cashmere fabric is crafted – the combing, the separating of fibres, the spinning into yarn and the hand-weaving that leads to the luxurious goods on offer in the shop.

At Belmond Hotel Caruso, shopping on the Amalfi Coast goes hand in hand with the idea of finding unique products that represent the ‘spirit of the place’ and are rooted within an eclectic and often historic environment. The experience fits perfectly with a growing interest in seeking places and spaces that offer an added value, making the shopping hunt an adventure, and the ‘prey’ either a linen camisole, a ceramic plate, an artisanal sandal. A visit to seek out the right bottle of wine at Marisa Cuomo’s cellar becomes a voyage into the eno-gastronomic tradition of the Amalfi Coast, giving guests the opportunity to engage personally with the surroundings. Equally, if you opt for a box of famous Amalfi paper envelops and card, after visiting the ancient Paper Mill and listening to the history directly from the owner, a simple souvenir becomes much more than a ‘sheet of paper’ in a pretty box.

When it comes to delicacies, guests of Belmond Grand Hotel Timeo and Belmond Sant’Andrea should not miss a visit to the farm of Antonio (Toni) Minissale to see pistachios being cultivated and harvested or take a stroll through Bronte, where every café and pastry shop sells pistachio-based sweets or ice-cream.
And for a Sicilian-style promenade wear some custom-designed leather sandals traditionally crafted by the artisan Luigi di Caro and flaunt a coffa, the straw bags originally used for carrying goods by mule or for collecting vine-clippings and nowadays a design icon!

Last but not least Mallorca. The island is a source of amazement to many who arrive thinking that it is all about beaches.  This could not be farther from the truth. Venture to the capital to discover some of its hidden treasures.
The city of Palma with its majestic Cathedral towering over the beautiful bay has many secret corners.  We suggest you wander through the old, narrow streets of the ancient Arab and Jewish quarters and take a voyage of discovery.  From churches, such as the wonderful baroque Cathedral itself with its rose windows and chapel tiled by the artist Miquel Barceló, or San Francesc in the square of the same name,  monasteries with ancient cloisters, baronial houses with their picture-perfect patios -take a guided tour, to wonderful shops that have been there for the lifespan of many family members .  From novel bookshops such as Babel  where you can browse while sipping a glass of wine   to historic coffee houses and bakeries such as the ancient and totally charming Ca’n Joan de s’Aigo   In Carmina you can order made to measure soft leather shoes or maybe you want to wear some of the local espadrilles from Alpargatería La Concepciónin the street of the same name.  Belmond La Residencia will introduce you to the inside world of Palma and, for those wishing to venture further afield, we can take you into the workshops of hidden artisans.
